A New Season

I’m so excited to be racing another year with Cardinal Classic Cycling. Last year was our first shot at racing in the big leagues and we’re ready to come back bigger and better than ever this season! We have new goals, new sponsors, more opportunities to race, and a fresh motivation to help the team succeed.

The season kicked off at Tucson Bicycle Classic. Alli, Morgan, and Myself traveled to Tucson for a pre-season opener to test our legs and get back into the swing of racing. After a short and incredibly windy time trial, where staying upright was the biggest challenge, all three of us found our legs in the eighty mile road race. We finished 6th, 10th, and 11th in a stacked field with full DNA and Instafund pro cycling squads. The Circuit race was a fast paced 50- mile stage, during which focus was essential and placement into the last corner could make or break a result.  After a gap was opened behind the first four riders through the corner, the team crossed the finish line in  5th, 8th, and 15th. Our mini team had such a great weekend and reminded ourselves that we belong in races against big names riders in bigger teams. I’m so excited to get the whole team together soon to see what we can do.

Next up is team camp where we head up to Bryson City to stay at the beautiful Sky Ridge Yurts. We have five days to train together, hone our teamwork before the season, and explore the blue ridge mountains. After our team camp, four of us will head to South Carolina to race the Tiger Town criterium and road race before some really big things that are now on the horizon!
